Agent Provocateur

As the subject of Agent Provocateur has come up, I thought that I would have a look see on the net to find out some more info.  There was certainly a load of info all right as it turns out that the phrase Agent Provocateur is a favourite name for perfumes, underwear, kinky sex sites etc. etc.   OK, so I'm naive.   Wikipaedia gave the definition 'agents of the state or police enciting people to commit violent acts, or perpetratinbg violence in order to discredit, or justify violence against, a particular group of people', which just about fits exactly the behaviour of very small number of G20 demonstrators as described by many eyewitnesses.   Wikipaedia then gave a few vague instances and that was about it.   The only reference in the entry about agent provocateur in Britain was an article in the Daily Mail dated 2007 - which was no longer accessable - and a comment that there were 'well-documented cases'.   If I was of a paranoid/conspiracy theorist turn of mind, I would say that the spooks have cleaned out the Wikkipaedia entry, and weeded out the search engines.
   By its very nature, though, agent provocateurism will leave few footprints, and those it does leave can be easily covered up and dismissed.   Because you're paranoid doesn't mean that they're not out to get you!   It is quite extraordinary, though, the number of demonstrations which seem to be hijacked by very violent people, conveniently close to tv cameras.   I am sure that someone somewhere must have written a history of the agent provocateur - largely an imaginary one, I should think!

Lesson No. One:   Don't attempt to be ironic - people take you seriously!   What I thought of as a mild, fairly jocular comment was greeted with a furious tirade which, I'm afraid to say, I found naive.   I wrote a reply stating clearly what I actually thought on the subject of agent provocateur, their extensive use and their effectiveness.   I hope that my excitable friend does not take it the wrong way - I pointed out how easy it was to wind people up and set them going in a pre-planned direction.  A cynical viewpoint, but then I think that those in power are very cynical.   They have also had a long time in which to develop people-controlling strategies.   It's quite routine, now. Or maybe I am simply a jaded old cynic nursing my weltschmerz to keep it warm.   There again, I have taken an interest in politics and public afairs for over forty years, so it's not surprising.

How was your first post, darling?

So there it is.   I've made my first post, A bit rough round the edges, but still.   Not that it will make much difference, of course as the NuLab project of Tescoising Britain is complete, apart from the odd 't' being crossed and a couple of 'i's dotted.   I really am outraged by these people as they have neither integrity nor substance, and have quite deliberately created a culture in Britain where both those things are absent.   Nothing's a lie, or even untrue - everything you hear is just another point of view.

Something fell out of the cabbage, wriggled about on the floor -
packed with protein and roughage - couldn't ask for anything more.
It's laid out on the chopping- block and I'm wondering what to do?
Boil it up in some stock, maybe, or make up an Irish stew?

You could marinade it, more or less, with peppers, orange and wine;
add Calvados, whisky and Guiness and you're in for a hell of a time -
or stir-fry with ginger and apple?  No - steam it with sorrel and mint -
then glaze it with apricot pickle, to give an alluring glint.

My dinner's just got up and left me - it's heading at speed for the door -
perhaps it's shy and sensitive, it doesn't want a Michelin star.
I've put it among the nasturtiums to nibble the terrible things,
while I make hamburgers and buns, and put out the pineapple rings.
